What 20 Years at Sea Taught Me About Storms in Tea Cups

Developing a new business, and especially a new concept, inevitably creates a few storms in teacups along the way. Everyone has an opinion about what will work, what won’t, what you should do differently and why something is probably a terrible idea.

And it’s worth listening. Sometimes the naysayers spot something you’ve missed, and a bit of criticism can save you from making an expensive mistake.

But ultimately, it’s your life, your idea and your adventure.

If you believe in something, follow your convictions. Listen to good advice, learn as you go, accept that you’ll get some things wrong — but don’t allow somebody else’s doubts to become your reasons for not trying.

Dreams are very easy to talk about.

Making them happen is the interesting bit.
